The Dictionary Of Dangerous Ideas

Dangerous book design for Mike Walsh

Mike Walsh is a world-renowned futurist and thought leader on consumer and digital trends as well as a best selling author. Mike is also one of the most admired keynote speakers in the industry and advises the international Fortune 50 on disruptive innovation and building companies for the 21st century.

The Dictionary of Dangerous ideas is a collection of the 100 most challenging concepts facing business leaders at the dawn of the 21st century. At the intersection of emerging technologies and new patterns of human behaviour, the ideas in the dictionary have been chosen for both their potential to transform the way companies operate, as well inspire new forms of thinking. The Dictionary Of Dangerous Ideas is a book for anyone with an interest in how business and society are being transformed by new technologies.

Our design concept focused on the threshold between traditional warning signs that we have been taught to respect, and dangerous thinking that encourages us to disobey such instruction. There are a lot of striking images in the book. By interposing a strong yellow graphic element on the front cover on a black and white image of a classroom, we sought to create an emotional collision between heresy and truth, action and inaction, innovation and stagnation. Key design elements of the book are the 26 unique letters we created with the help of typographic artist Gemma O’Brien, which are used as chapter openers.
